BAY CITY, Mich. — Michigan Tech women’s basketball player Katie Wysocky (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) has earned the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s first north division player of the week nod of the season. The senior forward racked up 48 points and 39 rebounds in three games last week to help the top-ranked Huskies start the year 3-0.

Wysocky posted 13 points and 14 rebounds in an 85-68 season-opening win at Minnesota Duluth on Nov. 15. She followed that up with identical numbers in a 67-37 win over Missouri Western (Nov. 20), a game in which she became Tech’s all-time leading rebounder. The 6-0 Wysocky wrapped up the three-game stretch with 22 points and 11 rebounds in a 71-51 win over Texas A&M Commerce (Nov. 21) for her third straight double-double.

Wysocky, who was named the GLIAC Preseason Player of the Year, is averaging 16.0 points and 13.0 rebounds so far in 2009-10. In addition to her school-record 886 career rebounds, she ranks sixth in school history in scoring at 1,382 points.

Michigan Tech will be off this week before returning to action Dec. 3 vs. Wayne State. The game will be the Huskies home and GLIAC opener.
