SKI TEAMS FINISH FOURTH AND FIFTH AT NCAA QUALIFIER

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Michigan Tech men’s Nordic ski team finished fourth and the women’s team finished fifth at the second of four NCAA qualifying meets at the NTN Trails today.
We left ourselves in a little bit of a hole,” said head coach Joe Haggenmiller. “We will have better days in the future.”
Senior Kevin Heglund was the top finisher for the Huskies with his ninth place finish in the 10-kilometer freestyle. He completed the course in 30:00.0.
Senior Adam Airoldi was just over two seconds back as he finished 11th in 30:02.8. Junior Chris Harvey also posted a strong finish in 13th place in 30:08.1.
Sophomore Jenna Klein paced the women’s team as she finished 14th in the five-kilometer freestyle in 19:37.0.
Freshman Catie Cogger enjoyed a good day skiing finishing less than 30 seconds behind Klein in a time of 20:04.0.
A pair of juniors were also near the team leaders as junior Karen Jarvey finished 21st in 20:13.8 and Laura Kangas was 22nd in 20:17.7.
The teams will compete tomorrow in the classical races tomorrow at the NTN Trails in Marquette.
