RIPON, Wis. - The Michigan Tech women’s track and field team won seven events at the Sherman-Lukoski Invite hosted by Ripon College Saturday (March 29). St. Norbert won the five team meet with 167 points while Tech was one point behind with 166.
Andrea Metz won the 1,500 meter run in 4:57.82 and set a personal best in the 5,000 meter run to finish second in 18:42.93.
“It was great to see Andrea with such a strong performance this early in the season,” said head coach Margot Hutchins.
Elizabeth Geerer won the 400 meter hurdles in 1:16.77 and finished fourth in the 100 meter hurdles (19.24).
Danielle Holmgren led a 1-2-3 finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:31.11. Stephanie Schiel finished second (2:33.55) and Katie Wold was third (2:38.57). Holmgren also finished third in the 1,500 meter in 5:10.43.
Tech also finished 1-2-3 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Megan Drelles won the event in 12:22.22, Lauren Wiza was second (12:54.37) and Kaylyn Gaul was third (13:46.01).
Erin Ballun finished first in both the high jump (5-1.25) and long jump (15-3.5). She also finished fifth in the 200 meter dash (29.30).
“I was real proud to see Erin win both the high and long jumps,” said Hutchins.
Alison Springer-Wilson won the 10,000 meter run in 41:49.40.
