HOUGHTON, Mich. — The Michigan Tech women's basketball team has added Krista Pelky (Oshkosh, Wis./West) to its 2008-09 roster it was announced today by head coach John Barnes. She joins Jessica Racine (Ishpeming, Mich./Westwood) in the Huskies' recruiting class.

Pelky is a 5-8 guard who averaged 16.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in 2007-08 to help Oshkosh West to a runner-up finish in the Wisconsin Division I state tournament. The all-conference first team and honorable mention all-state selection set a school record for points in a season with 422. She was also named to the all-tournament team for the state tournament and has been selected to play in the Wisconsin All-Star game.

“Krista is a very smart player who does a good job of leading on the floor,” said Barnes. “She can also score, which showed this past year as she broke her school record for points in a season.”

Racine, who signed a National Letter of Intent back in November, was the 2007-08 Upper Peninsula Class A-B-C Player of the Year and an all-state selection. She averaged 16.2 points and 7.9 rebounds this past season in helping Westwood to a 24-1 record.

The players will attend and play basketball at Michigan Tech this fall. They join a talented group of returning players that went 23-8 won a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship in 2007-08.
