WACO, Texas — Michigan Tech received votes in the American Football Coaches Association Preseason Top 25 Poll. The Huskies were third in the “others receiving votes” category, effectively ranking them 28th nationally.
Tech tallied 42 points in the poll. The No. 25-ranked team was Central Missouri with 72 points.
Besides Michigan Tech, three other Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference members appear in the poll. Grand Valley State is the AFCA preseason favorite at No. 1. Ashland ranks 15th while Wayne State received 21 poll points.
Preparation for Michigan Tech’s 87th season of intercollegiate football is underway. The Huskies held their first official practice last Wednesday (Aug. 12) and will play their season opener at Hillsdale on Sept. 5.
Tech last appeared in the national rankings last year when it was No. 23 on Sept. 23.
