Michigan Tech (2-7, 2-7 GLIAC) hosts Northwood (6-3, 6-3 GLIAC)

SLOWIK POSTS FOURTH 100-YARD GAME
Bobby Slowik (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest) hauled in four catches for 139 yards and a touchdown last Saturday (Oct. 31) at Tiffin. The 5-10 senior has totaled 45 receptions for 741 yards and three scores this season. The touchdown catch vs. Tiffin was a 68 yard strike, the longest of his career. Slowik owns 121 receptions for 1,964 yards in his career. He needs just 36 more receiving yards to become just the fifth player in school history to reach the 2,000-yard plateau.

MARVIN BREAKS 100 AGAIN
For the fourth time this season, Marvin Atkins (Chicago, Ill./Walther Lutheran) rushed for over 100 yards in a game. The 6-0, 200-pound tailback carried the ball 24 times for 101 yards in the contest to run his season totals to 159 carries for 673 yards. Atkins ranks sixth in the GLIAC at 74.8 yards per game this season.

LACHAPPELLE MOVING THE CHAINS
Freshman Bryan LaChappelle (Crystal Falls, Mich./Forest Park) caught six passes for 47 yards vs. Tiffin. Five of the six receptions went for first downs including a key conversion as the Huskies were trying to run out the clock in their 21-14 win. LaChappelle’s 25 receptions this season is the second-most on the team for 247 yards and four touchdowns.

TECH TOTALS FIVE SACKS VS. TIFFIN
Michigan Tech defenders sacked the Tiffin quarterback five times as part of seven total tackles for loss in last Saturday’s (Oct. 31) win. Sophomore defensive back Chet White (Rhinelander, Wis.) led the way with two of those sacks. Defensive tackle Justin Blake (Bessemer, Mich.) and defensive end Jacob Clark (Lansing, Mich./Catholic Central) also had two tackles for loss each.

SERIES VS. NORTHWOOD
Michigan Tech and Northwood have met 35 times, with the Timberwolves owning a 20-15 series lead. The Huskies have won four of the last six including each of the last two, which were both in Midland, Mich. NU prevailed 13-7 the last time the teams met in Houghton (Sept. 16, 2006).

VANDENBERG PACING THE TEAM IN TACKLES
Sophomore Jesse Vandenberg (Kaukauna, Wis.) made a team-high 10 tackles including a sack at Tiffin last Saturday (Oct. 31). The defensive alley player leads the team in tackles with 60. He has reached double digits in tackles in four games this year including a season-high 11 at Indianapolis.

FAREWELL, SENIORS
A total of 13 seniors will play their final games in a Michigan Tech uniform Saturday (Nov. 7) vs. Northwood. They are running back Marvin Atkins, right guard Bill Behling, tight end Mat Brynick, defensive end Mike Cardwell, safety David Carmody, linebacker Matt Carothers, cornerback Jon Folse, left tackle Josh Frantti, fullback Mike Macpherson, defensive back Matt Petr, wide receiver Bobby Slowik, tight end Pat Streit and linebacker John van der Laan.

THIS AND THAT
Michigan Tech has not lost a regular season finale at home since 2002, a 33-23 loss to Northwood … Tech ranks first in the GLIAC in penalties by averaging only 27.7 per game … Injured quarterback Steve Short (Iron Mountain, Mich./Kingsford) has received a medical redshirt and plans on returning to the team for his final year of eligibility next fall.
