HOUGHTON, Mich. — Michigan Tech secured its sixth straight win to start the season with a 100-38 score against Finlandia tonight at the SDC Gym. All 14 Huskies scored points in helping the Black and Gold improve to 19-0 all-time vs. their cross-canal rival.
Tech wasted no time in building a comfortable lead. Six different Huskies scored a bucket in the opening five minutes for a 14-3 advantage. The score by half was 46-17.
The margin continually grew in the second half. The hosts’ bench contributed 42 of their 54 second half points and 69 of the team’s 100 in the game. Tech’s 100-point output was its first in triple figures since Nov. 21, 1998, in a 114-38 victory over Westminster.
The Huskies shot a stellar 72 percent in the second half to finish at 59 for the game. The Lions were held to 29 percent from the floor. Tech also turned in a 43-19 rebound advantage and forced 24 turnovers.
“It was a good opportunity for us to get everybody minutes in a game situation,” said head coach
John Barnes. “Our bench came in and did a great job. Confidence is really important in basketball, and I hope it carries over to Northern (Michigan) on Saturday.”
Lindsey Lindstrom led all scorers with 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting and was one of five Huskies in double figures.

Krista Kasuboski posted a career-high nine points by making 3-of-4 3-point shots.
Michigan Tech will return to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Saturday (Dec. 12) at Northern Michigan. Tipoff between the rivals is set for 5:30 p.m.
