ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Michigan Tech men’s track and field team broke two school records and finished fourth as a team at the Bolstorff Twilight Meet hosted by Macalester Wednesday (April 22).

“It was great to finally have some decent conditions to compete in,” said head coach Joe Haggenmiller. “I’m really pleased with many of the performances our team had. I know our athletes are working hard and it is great for them to finally receive the reward of setting new personal bests. A meet like this makes me very proud of the dedication of our coaching staff and athletes.”

Brian Stetter ran a school record time of 31:32.77 in his first ever 10,000 race on the track. He finished fifth overall and third among collegiate athletes. The previous record of 31:48.65, was set by Karl Walczak in 2003.

Kenny Gilkerson also bettered his school record in the 800, finishing first in 1:52.29. His previous record of 1:52.50 was set at the same meet last year. Gilkerson currently holds seven of the top 10 performances in the 800 in school history. Teammate Dylan Anderson finished eighth in 1:57.77.

Nate Saliga posted a time of 49.66 to finish third overall and third among college athletes in the 400. His time ranks eighth in school history.

Gilkerson and Saliga teamed up with Tylor Rathsack and Aaron Cedergren to a first place finish in the 4x400 relay in 3:22.49, fifth best in school history.

Quinn Parnell posted a pair of solid finishes in the sprints. He finished third in the 100 (11.24) and fourth in the 200 (22.48). Teammate Aaron Tetzloff finished ninth in the 100 (11.64) and 13th in the 200 (23.30).

Parnell, Tetzloff, Saliga and Rathsack finished sixth in the 4x100 in 43.21, ninth best in school history.

The Huskies posted a pair of top-10 finishes in the 5,000. Chris Schafer finished seventh (15:51.96) and Jonathon Kilpela was 10th (16:08.16).

Tech finished fourth out of 19 teams.
