ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Michigan Tech freshman Nordic skier Christina Mischica finished third in the “B” final of the women’s junior/Under-23 classic sprint at the US National Championships in Anchorage, Alaska Thursday (Jan. 8). She finished second among college racers and ninth overall.

Freshman Petter Sjulstad posted the best ever finish by a Michigan Tech male skier after he finished fourth in the “B” final of the men’s senior classic sprint. He was the fourth collegiate skier across the line and finished 11th overall.

“I was pleased with the success that we experienced today,” said head coach Joe Haggenmiller. “This week was tough for our athletes with the weather and having many of the races delayed and canceled. We are looking to racing two more times at the Alaska Anchorage Invite this weekend before we head home.”

Anchorage native junior Liz Quinley, who qualified 14th, was knocked out of the quarter finals of the women’s senior race after finish fifth in her heat.
