ST. PAUL, Minn. - Michigan Tech senior Lauren Wiza was the top finisher for the Huskies at the Hamline Twilight Wednesday (April 22) finishing second to a runner from the University of Minnesota in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12:18.26. Her time was the sixth fastest in school history. Wiza also finished seventh in the javelin with a throw of 92-0.

“This was a great opportunity for our women to put in a great performance at a great facility,” said assistant coach Jason Cork. “Many of our women seized this opportunity and posted some of their best performances of the season heading into the GLIAC Championships.”

Freshman Molly Wiltzius finished fifth in the discus, behind one unattached athlete and three University of Minnesota throwers, with a mark of 128-5. Wiltzius throw was the third best in school history. She now has the top four performances in school history. She also finished seventh in the shot put with a mark of 37-8, ninth best in school history.

The women once again had a strong day in the 5,000 with three runners in the top-six. Junior Alison Springer-Wilson finished fourth (19:20.65), senior Laura Kangas was fifth (19:30.31) and sophomore Jill Smith finished sixth (19:43.18).

Sophomore Beth Geerer ran her fastest 400 of the season to finish fifth in a time of 1:02.35. Erin Tucker also ran her fastest time of the year in the 100 hurdles finishing ninth in 18.83.

No team scores were kept.
