MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Senior
Oskar Lund led the Michigan Tech Nordic ski team with his first place finish among collegiate racers at the Central Super Tour Saturday (Jan. 23). Lund covered the 10-kilometer freestyle course in 23:24.
Teammate senior
Jesse Lang was two spots back in third place in 24:04. Sophomore
Jesse Smith, who was competing in his first race in America after spending a semester in Europe, finished 11th in a time of 25:18.
Redshirt
Jay Woodbeck turned in his best performance of the season finishing in 25:23.
Senior
Henna Riikonen-Purtsi was the top-finisher for the women thanks to her fifth place finish. She covered the five-kilometer course in 13:23.
Seniors Liz Quinley and
Jenna Klein finished 13th (13:46) and 18th (14:14) respectively. Sophomore
Christina Mishica finished 21st (14:19).
Redshirt
Melanie Hoffman also enjoyed a stellar day finishing in 14:13.
“Overall we skied pretty well,” said head coach
Joe Haggenmiller. “I was happy to see us battling with many of the skiers from the region. I am excited to see what happens in the classical race tomorrow.”
The teams will take part in the classical race Sunday (Jan. 24).
