NINE HUSKIES NAMED TO WCHA ACADEMIC TEAM

MADISON, Wis. – Michigan Tech had nine players named to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Academic Team the league office announced today (March 12).

Seniors Ryan Angelow, Alex Gagne, Derek Kitti and John Schwarz were which named to the team for the third time in their careers. Juniors Mike VanWagner and Eli Vlaisavljevich were each selected for a second time. Junior John Kivisto, sophomore Jordan Baker and sophomore Bennett Royer were named to the team for the first time.

"I am real proud of the job these men do in the classroom," said head coach Jamie Russell. "They put a lot of focus and hard work into their studies and this honor rewards it."

To earn recognition as a member of the All-WCHA Academic Team, member team student-athletes must meet the following criteria: 1) have completed one year of residency at present institution, prior to the current academic year; and 2) have a grade point average of at least 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) for the previous two semesters or three quarters, or may qualify if his overall GPA is at least 3.00 for all terms at his present institution.
