BATTLE AT THE BALLPARK!
Michigan Tech will head to Fifth Third Ballpark in Grand Rapids, Mich., to take part in the Battle at the Ballpark against Ferris State. Fifth Third is home to the West Michigan Whitecaps, the Class A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. The matchup will serve as a fundraiser for the Ferris State football program.

HEIM COMPLETES 65 PERCENT
Junior Brent Heim (Green Bay, Wis./Preble) completed 20-of-31 for 203 yards last Saturday (Sept. 26) vs. Grand Valley State in his first collegiate start. The 5-11, 205-pound quarterback threw his second career touchdown pass—both of which have gone to tight end Bryan LaChappelle. Heim owns a QB rating of 126.5 with 27-of-44 completions in six quarters of action on the season.

MARVIN REACHES TRIPLE DIGITS
Senior Marvin Atkins (Chicago, Ill./Walther Lutheran) rushed for 100 yards on 17 carries vs. Grand Valley State. It was the tailback’s first 100-yard game since the season finale of 2007 and the sixth of his career. Atkins owns 1,405 career rushing yards in a Huskies uniform.

SLOWIK REMAINS AMONG GLIAC LEADERS
Senior Bobby Slowik (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest) surpassed the 100-yard receiving mark for the third time in four games this season with five catches for 104 last Saturday. Slowik ranks second in the league as one of only two receivers averaging more than 100 yards per game (101.5). He is fifth in receptions per game at 5.8.

INJURY SITUATION
Tech will likely continue to play without two of its biggest offensive weapons this Saturday. Both quarterback Steve Short (Iron Mountain, Mich./Kingsford) and tailback Phil Milbrath (Norway, Mich.) suffered injuries Sept. 19 vs. Northern Michigan. Short is out with a knee injury. Milbrath is doubtful because of an ankle injury.

LaCHAPPELLE STAYS HOT
Tight end Bryan LaChappelle (Crystal Falls, Mich./Forest Park) has caught a touchdown pass in three straight games and is tied for the team lead in scoring with 18 points. The freshman, who started his collegiate career as a member of the Ferris State basketball team, has 11 receptions for 123 yards on the year.

SERIES VS. FERRIS STATE
Michigan Tech and Ferris State have met 58 times since their series began in 1947. The Huskies own a 31-23-4 record in those games, including a 7-3 record over the last 10 encounters with the Bulldogs. Tech defeated FSU 21-7 at Sherman Field a year ago during Homecoming festivities.

TIDBITS
This weekend’s 500-mile trip to Grand Rapids, Mich., to play Ferris State is the shortest of Michigan Tech’s five road trips this season. The other four trips are/were Ashland (707 miles), Tiffin (664), Indianapolis (599) and Hillsdale (582) …The Huskies are minus six in turnover ratio in four games this season … Michigan Tech is 0-4 for the first time since 2006, when the Huskies finished the year with six straight wins and a 6-4 record.
