MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Junior Michael-Lee Teslak made 34 saves for Michigan Tech but the Huskies could not complete the sweep of Minnesota losing 3-1.

The Huskies fall to 6-7-1 overall and 5-6-1 in the WCHA while the Gophers improve to 8-7-1 and 3-6-0 in the WCHA.

The Huskies appeared to have scored the first goal of the game a little over a minute into the action. Junior Geoff Kinrade collected a loose puck near the blue line and fired a shot on net that went by junior goaltender Jeff Frazee. The goal was eventually waved off due to a Tech player being in the crease.

Senior Mike Howe gave the Gophers a 1-0 lead after he scored from right in front of the Huskies net at 2:03 of the first period. He was assisted by sophomore Kyle Okposo and freshman Kevin Wehrs.

The Huskies were forced to kill off a five-minute major penalty for checking from behind near the end of the first period.

“Not only did we lose a forward but our top guys are playing on all the kills,” said head coach Jamie Russell.

Senior Peter Rouleau answered with his goal at 8:47 of the first period to tie the game at 1-1. Rouleau, who picked up an assist on Friday (Nov. 30), poked the puck past Frazee after he could not control the rebound off a shot by senior Tyler Shelast. He was assisted by Shelast and sophomore John Kivisto. The assist was the first point for Kivisto this season.

In the second period, Teslak made a save on the initial shot by the Gophers but he also could not control the puck with his glove and Howe tapped the puck in, for his second goal of the game, to give the Gophers the 2-1 lead. Freshman Stu Bickel and senior Ben Gordon assisted on the game winning goal at 11:03.

Minnesota fired a shot from the point that was pushed wide before sophomore Kyle Okposo scored off the rebound at 5:01 of the third period. He was assisted by sophomore Ryan Flynn and freshman Cade Fairchild.

Neither team scored on the power play as Tech finished 0-5 and Minnesota was 0-3.

Teslak (4-4-1) gave up all three Gopher goals and finished with 34 saves.

Frazee (6-5-0) allowed one goal and made 18 saves.
