Huskies Take Part in Relay For Life
HOUGHTON, Mich. - The Michigan Tech athletic department recently
participated in the Houghton Relay for Life to benefit the American
Cancer Society.
Coaches and student-athletes staffed a series of games such as face
painting, putt-putt golf, football toss and hockey shot in the
afternoon. The group then participated in a team walk with the
other teams. Cancer survivors also walked a lap and stopped to
light luminaries that lined the track at Houghton High School.
“It was great to see the department’s participation in
this year’s Relay for Life,” said volleyball
student-athlete Jordana Kero. “Being the first year, we
weren’t sure how it would turn out but the athletes did an
awesome job fundraising, and the staff helped out generously at the
event. I’m very happy with the amount of money we raised for
the American Cancer Society and look forward to building off of
this for next year.”
The group raised over $1500 for the American Cancer Society during
the 24 hour event.
