Coaching Staff
Mary Muncil, a classically trained dancer with over 10 years of professional training and experience, is entering her first season as both Dance Team and Competitive Cheer Team head coach in the fall of 2012.

Muncil, originally from the Adirondack region of upstate New York, began her professional ballet training under Pamara Perry, a former dancer of the Joffrey Ballet, with the Adirondack Repertory Dance Theatre. She continued her trained with New York State Summer School for the Arts under the direction of New York City Ballet principal dancer Damian Woetzel before relocating to Pennsylvania to attend the prestigious Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, under artistic director Marcia Dale Weary.

After graduating high school, Muncil move to Austin, TX, for more intensive training with Ballet Austin, and was asked to join the company for the 2006-2007 season. Choosing instead to continue her education, Muncil enrolled in Point Park University’s Conservatory of Performing Arts- a nationally acclaimed dance program based in Pittsburgh, PA- where she earned her B.A. in Dance, concentrating in Contemporary Jazz. While in Pittsburgh, Muncil danced with the innovative multimedia jazz company, the Pillow Project, and contributed to choreography and production during her time with the company.

Her teaching experience includes work with both the Adirondack Repertory Dance Theatre as well as the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. She helped co-found the Three10 Moment, a Point Park driven arts production organization that successfully produced two collaborative, well received shows during her involvement with the company, and has completed both her yoga and Pilates certifications. Muncil is currently working within the Michigan Tech Community Programs department as yoga instructor, Pilates Program Coordinator and is both creator and Coordinator for the new Youth Dance Program.

Mary is thrilled to be a part of the MTU community and to contribute her strong dance training and knowledge to both Dance and Competitive Cheer Teams as they move forward into more competitive arenas.

Dayna Pomeroy is entering her first season as Michigan Tech’s Competitive Cheer Team assistant coach, starting in the fall of 2012.

Pomeroy started her cheerleading career at Kingsford High School in Kingsford, MI. After graduating she spent her summer working for the Victory Cheerleading Company in Grand Rapids, MI training high school teams across the state. She then moved on to coach the Kingsford 7th grade competitive cheer team. The following year she decided to attend Michigan Tech pursueing a degree in Accounting. While at Tech she continued to cheer until an injury took her out in the Spring of 2012. Although her injury has kept her from performing with the team, Pomeroy has been asked to join the coaching staff, and is very excited to become Michigan Tech’s Competitive Cheer Team assistant coach!
