Joel Isaacson was named Michigan Tech's associate athletic director for external relations in 2013 after eight years serving as Tech's associate athletic director for compliance and operations. He is in charge of all corporate sponsorships, marketing, promotions and ticketing.
Isaacson has served full time in the athletic department for 13 years — the first four as equipment manager. He became operations manager and also took on NCAA compliance responsibilities in 2005. All told, Isaacson has a 17-year resume in the Michigan Tech athletics department since he served as manager for the hockey team while a student. He graduated with a degree in management information systems from Michigan Tech in 2001.
A veteran of numerous NCAA, conference and university committees, Isaacson currently serves on the NCAA Reinstatement Committee, the GLIAC Officials Committee and the University's Student Affairs and Advancement Technology Advance Committee. Formerly, he has been part of NCAA Regional Advisory Committees for women's soccer and women's tennis.
From 2011-14, Isaacson volunteered as equipment manager for USA Hockey's National Sled Hockey Team. He traveled to events in Japan, Norway, Canada and South Korea with the team culminating with the 2014 Paralympic Games in Sochi, Russia. Team USA won the gold medal with a 1-0 victory over the host Russians.
Isaacson resides in Hancock, Mich., with his wife, Kristi, and their children, Aidan and Kiera.
