HOUGHTON, Mich. – Head Coach Kevin Luke and the Michigan Tech men's basketball program are pleased to announce the upcoming 2017-18 schedule. This year's slate of games will feature 15 home dates, including the season opener on Saturday November 11th.
The Huskies will battle some familiar opponents once again this season with some new additions to the conference schedule. Davenport and Purdue-Northwest will join the GLIAC for the upcoming season after moving from the NAIA to NCAA Division II for the 2017-18 campaign. Tech will play both teams twice this year with home and road games against each school.
The Huskies will tip-off the season on November 11th at home against the University of Wisconsin-Parkside followed by a clash the next day against Lewis. Other non-conference games include showdowns with Southwest Minnesota State (Nov. 17), Minnesota State-Moorhead (Nov. 18), Minnesota-Duluth (Nov. 22), Concordia St. Paul (Nov. 25), and Winona State (Dec. 19).
Tech opens the GLIAC schedule on November 30th at home against Saginaw Valley State and then faces Northwood at home on December 2nd. The Huskies will play SVSU, Northwood, Grand Valley State, Purdue-Northwest, Ferris State, Lake Superior State, Wayne State, and Davenport both at home and on the road this year. Tech will also play host to Ashland and Tiffin in 2017-18.
The Huskies will once again square off against rival Northern Michigan at home and on the road this year. Tech will travel to Marquette for game one Sunday December 17th and will host NMU on Saturday January 27th.
Michigan Tech wrapped up the 2016-17 campaign with an overall record of 16-14 and tied for second in the GLIAC North Division standings. The Huskies advanced to the GLIAC Tournament semifinals, narrowly losing to top-seeded Ferris State.
