Interestingly, that’s where incoming freshman Eric Gotz fits in. A smart righthanded defender with a simple game, Gotz, who spent his last two seasons with the North American Hockey League’s (NAHL) Minnesota Wilderness, put up 56 total points in 157 games over two seasons.

Enter righthanded defender Colin Swoyer. He arrives fresh off a junior career which saw him rack up 36 assists and 49 points over a two-year period with the United States Hockey League’s Sioux Falls Stampede in South Dakota.

    Brian Halonen is one of the Michigan Tech Huskies hockey program’s eleven new faces set to hit the ice this season. Standing 6-foot-0, the 198-pound power forward comes to Houghton after racking up 16 goals in 59 games last season with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League (USHL).

    Michigan native Thomas Parrottino will suit up for the Michigan Tech Huskies this fall as one of eleven new faces to join the Huskies this year. Parrottino, previously a forward for the United States Hockey League’s (USHL) Youngstown Phantoms, looks to continue his success in a Husky uniform as a winger this fall.

  • Tech Hockey Announces Incoming Class

    Michigan Tech head hockey coach Joe Shawhan announces 11 incoming players for the 2018-19 season. The class consists of goaltender Matt Jurusik, defensemen Tyrell Buckley, Eric Gotz, and Colin Swoyer, forwards Andrew Bellant, Trenton Bliss, Alec Broetzman, Brian Halonen, Zach Noble, Tommy Parrottino, and Tanner Polglaze.
  • Five Huskies Named Krampade All-American Scholars

    Brent Baltus, Thomas Beretta, Devin Kero, Mitch Meek, and Dylan Steman of the Michigan Tech hockey team, were named Krampade All-American Scholars for the 2017-18 school year, as announced by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA).
  • Seven Huskies attend NHL Development Camps
    July 11, 2018
    Michigan Tech had four current and three former players at NHL Development Camps over the last month. Jake Jackson attended San Jose camp for the fifth time while Thomas Beretta (Toronto), Jake Lucchini (Pittsburgh), and Cooper Watson (Dallas) were invites. Former defenseman Mark Auk signed with Minnesota Wild’s AHL affiliate after the 2017-18 season and is currently in St. Paul. Angus Redmond (Anaheim) and Mitch Reinke (St. Louis) were with the teams they signed with.
  • Joel L'Esperance signs two-year NHL contract with Dallas Stars

    Former Michigan Tech forward Joel L'Esperance has signed a two-year, entry-level NHL contract with the Dallas Stars, General Manager Jim Nill announced on July 1.
  • Tanner Kero traded to Vancouver Canucks in late June
    July 09, 2018
    Michigan Tech All-American Tanner Kero was acquired by the Vancouver Canucks on June 24 from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Michael Chaput.
  • Tech and Bemidji State to play outdoors in January
    July 06, 2018
    The Michigan Tech hockey team will play Bemidji State outdoors on January 18 as part of the 13th Annual Hockey Day Minnesota presented by Wells Fargo. FOX Sports North, in conjunction with the National Hockey League’s Minnesota Wild, Minnesota Hockey, and the Bemidji Organizing Committee made the announcement on July 1.

  • Watson wins Kelly Cup with Colorado Eagles

    Former Michigan Tech hockey captain Cliff Watson won the ECHL Kelly Cup with the Colorado Eagles on June 9. The Eagles defeated the Florida Everblades 3-2 at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida in Game 7 to win their second straight Kelly Cup.
