HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech Hockey Coach Joe Shawhan has hired Zach Hill as the Director of Hockey Operations. He began his duties in mid-August.
"Zach has been a great addition to our staff," Shawhan said. "He really understands the game of hockey and has a love for Michigan Tech that is infectious."
"I'm excited for this opportunity to work for this historic program that I have looked up to my whole life," Hill said. "I'm looking forward to working with our student-athletes and staff and getting the season started."
Hill spent the last two seasons (2016-18) as an Assistant Coach and Head JV Coach at NCAA Division III Finlandia University. He assisted with the Hancock Central High School hockey team the previous three years, winning the 2016 MHSAA Division 3 title. Hill has also worked Michigan Tech hockey camp, Green Bay Gamblers (USHL) Evaluation Camp, and has scouted for the Waterloo Blackhawks (USHL) and the Austin Bruins (NAHL).
Hill, a native of Hancock, Michigan, has a bachelor's degree in finance from Michigan Tech and played a season of hockey and baseball at Finlandia. He participated in hockey, football, track, golf, and baseball while in high school. He was All-State in both hockey and baseball and All-Conference and Academic All-State in hockey.
