Baltus and Hanna Join Huskies Hockey Squad
The Michigan Tech hockey team has signed two more players to National Letters of Intent to join the Huskies’ program. Brent Baltus (Nanaimo, B.C.) and Shane Hanna (Salmon Arm, B.C.) will join four other student-athletes who will begin their careers this fall. Four others who have already signed NLIs will not enroll until fall 2014.

Hockey Hands Out 2012-13 Team Awards
Sophomore forward Blake Pietila was named the Merv Youngs Award winner as Michigan Tech hockey’s 2012-13 most valuable player as the Huskies handed out their awards at a team meal last night. A total of nine players earned awards at the event.

Conner Playing with the NHL's Coyotes
Former Michigan Tech hockey player Chris Conner (Westland, Mich.) has played three games with the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes after being called up last Wednesday (April 3) from their AHL affiliate Portland Pirates. Conner, who played at Tech from 2002-06, is with his fourth different NHL team since joining the professional ranks in 2006.

WCHA Announces Future Playoff Format; Unveils Updated Logo
The Western Collegiate Hockey Association today announced that its highly-successful men’s playoff championship – known as the WCHA Final Five – will head to Van Andel Arena and the City of Grand Rapids, Mich., for the 2013-14 and 2015-16 seasons and will return to Xcel Energy Center and the City of Saint Paul, Minn., for the 2014-15 and 2016-17 campaigns.

North Dakota Ends Tech's Hockey Season in Playoff Game 3
No. 4-ranked North Dakota scored one goal in the first period, four in the second and one more in the third to beat Michigan Tech 6-0 tonight and earn a best-of-three WCHA Playoff series win two games to one. The hosts came out firing early and got some bounces along the way to advance to the WCHA Final Five. Tech’s season ends with a 13-20-4 record.

Huskies Upset North Dakota to Force Game Three
Pheonix Copley made 29 saves and C.J. Eick scored the game-winning goal with 2:02 left to play to lift Michigan Tech to a 2-1 victory at No. 4 North Dakota tonight. With the win, the Huskies forced a decisive game in the best-of-three series tomorrow night at 8:07 p.m.

No. 4 North Dakota Downs Tech 5-3 in Playoff Opener
Tonight’s opening game of the WCHA playoffs featured eight goals and 22 penalties as No. 4 North Dakota claimed a 5-3 victory over Michigan Tech. Despite their top two scorers being out of the game (one with injury and the other because of a penalty), the Huskies closed to within 4-3 and hit a pipe on a potential game-tying goal in the closing minutes.

Petan Earns All-WCHA Rookie Team Honors; 12 Huskies on Academic Team
Michigan Tech hockey player Alex Petan was named to the All-Western Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie Team today as the league released it’s 2012-13 awards. The Delta, B.C., native became the first Husky to earn a spot on an All-WCHA team since 2007 (Michael-Lee Teslak, All-WCHA Third Team).
