  • Brooks Inducted into WMU Hockey Ring of Honor

    Current Michigan Tech hockey assistant coach Chris Brooks was inducted into the Western Michigan University Hockey Ring of Honor on July 29. Brooks played for the Broncos from 1992-96 and coached at WMU from 1999-2008. The induction ceremony took place at the WMU Hockey Golf Outing at The Moors in Portage.

    Former Michigan Tech hockey player Blake Pietila signed a two-year contract extension with the New Jersey Devils Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero announced on Wednesday (July 26). Pietila has a goal and two assists in 17 career NHL games and 50 points in 107 AHL games.

The class consists of forwards Justin Misiak, Greyson Reitmeier, and Marcus Russell, defensemen Seamus Donohue, Keegan Ford, Mitch Meek, Tyler Rockwell, and Cooper Watson, and goaltender Robbie Beydoun.

    Michigan Tech hockey players Mitch Reinke and Alex Smith are two of the 40 prospects at this week’s Calgary Flames annual development camp. The camp started on July 4 and wraps up with a scrimmage between Team Conroy and Team Gelinas on Friday (July 7).

    Michigan Tech hockey player Jake Jackson is one of 28 forwards at San Jose Sharks annual prospect development camp this week. The camp goes from July 3-7 at Solar4America Ice at San Jose with the fifth annual Sharks Prospects Scrimmage set for Thursday (July 6).

  • Auk, Lucchini Invited to Oilers Camp; Redmond at Ducks Camp

    Michigan Tech hockey players Mark Auk and Jake Lucchini will participate in the Edmonton Oilers development camp, beginning Saturday (July 1). The camp goes until July 5 in Jasper, Alberta, with 36 prospects attending. Former goaltender Angus Redmond is on the ice this week at the Anaheim Ducks annual prospect development camp.
  • Copley Signs Two-Year Extension with Washington Capitals

    Former Michigan Tech goaltender Pheonix Copley has re-signed with the Washington Capitals, inking a two-year $1.3 million contract the team announced on Wednesday (June 28). Copley's contract is two-way ($650,000/$200,000) during the 2017-18 season and one-way ($650,000) during the 2018-19 season.
  • Birks Invited to Penguins Development Camp

    Michigan Tech hockey player Dane Birks is one of 12 defensemen at the Pittsburgh Penguins Development Camp that opened Wednesday (June 28). The camp runs through Saturday (July 1) with all on-ice practices being held at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry, Pennsylvania.
  • Chris Brooks Named Assistant Hockey Coach
    June 26, 2017
    Michigan Tech head hockey coach Joe Shawhan announced the hiring of Chris Brooks as an assistant coach on Monday (June 26). Brooks joins the Huskies from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point where he was the head coach of the Pointers over the past six seasons, leading the team to three straight NCAA Division III Frozen Fours and winning the National Title in 2016. Brooks played collegiately at Western Michigan University.
  • Pairings Announced for Inaugural Ice Vegas Invitational

    Boston College will face Michigan Tech, followed by Arizona State versus Northern Michigan, when the first college hockey games are played at T-Mobile Arena in the inaugural Ice Vegas Invitational on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018. The championship and consolation games will be played Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, with game times both days scheduled for 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
  • Khaira Signs Two-Year Extension With Oilers

    Former Michigan Tech hockey player Jujhar Khaira recently signed a two-year contract extension with the Edmonton Oilers. Khaira has appeared in 25 games for the Oilers throughout his career and has three career NHL points with a goal and two assists.
