PAINESVILLE, Ohio - Katie Boardman scored in the 102nd minute to lift Michigan Tech to a 2-1 overtime win at Lake Erie in the GLIAC soccer opener for both schools Friday (Sept. 14).
"We were very pleased to pull away with the overtime win," said
head coach Michelle Jacob. "The ladies worked very hard throughout
the game, and because of their determination and persistence, they
were able to get the job done."
Lake Erie opened the scoring in the 55th minute when Kaitlyn
Holland scored with a low shot to the corner.
Lindsey Van Rooy tied the game with her team-leading fifth goal of
the season with a shot from 15 yards out in the 65th minute.
Jenna Phelps made six saves in her third win of the season for the
Huskies.
Tech (3-2, 1-0) finished with a heavy advantage in shots, 23-11,
over Lake Erie (1-4, 0-1).
Tech will play at Notre Dame (Ohio) on Sunday (Sept. 16th).
