Huskies Beat Walsh in Tennis to Move to 5-0

HOUGHTON, Mich. — The Michigan Tech women's tennis team improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in GLIAC play with a 7-2 victory over Walsh today at Gates Tennis Center.

The Huskies top two singles players, Natalia Lebedeva and Kwang Suthijindawong, both remained unbeaten on the season as well. Lebedeva moved to 5-0 at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-4 score. Suthijindawong did not give up a game in her 6-0, 6-0 triumph at No. 2. She is also 5-0.

Tech also won at Nos. 3 and 6 singles with Kira Eck and Dunja Imran Al-Sous, respectively. Eck earned a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 triumph while Imran Al-Sous was a 6-4, 6-0 winner.

Walsh won at Nos. 4 and 5 singles including a 6-3, 5-7, 10-6 decision by Mary-Catherine Beck over Chelsea Uganski.

The Huskies swept the doubles matches. Lebedeva and Imran Al-Sous remained undefeated (5-0) at No. 1 doubles with an 8-1 victory.

Michigan Tech will wrap up its three-match home stand with a 10 a.m. tilt vs. Malone tomorrow (Sept. 10).
