Women's Tennis Clipped 5-4 by Tiffin

TIFFIN, Ohio — Michigan Tech fell at Tiffin 5-4 today in GLIAC women's tennis. The Huskies, for a third time in as many days, were close to the win but couldn't come up with the fifth point.

Tiffin won at two of the three doubles flights and half of the six singles to improve to 2-3 (2-3 GLIAC). Tech saw its record drop to 6-3 overall (3-3 GLIAC).

Michigan Tech appeared to be on its way to a 2-1 lead after doubles as Kira Eck and Kwang Suthijindawong claimed an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles and the Huskies' No. 3 duo of Chelsea Uganski and Erika Tenizbaeva were up 6-2. The host Dragons came from behind to win that match in a tiebreaker 9-8, however. They also claimed the No. 1 doubles match by an 8-6 count.

In singles, Natalia Lebedeva suffered her first loss of the season at No. 1 where she was upended 6-4, 6-3. Suthijindawong kept her perfect singles record intact with a 6-0, 6-4 victory.

Eck (No. 3) and Uganski (No. 5) were the other winners in singles for Tech.

Michigan Tech will now take a week off of team competition to take part in the ITA Regional in Grand Rapids, Mich., Sept. 21-23.
