HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech has announced the hiring of Chelsea Jacques as the new Intramural Sports and Sports Camp Coordinator. Jacques began her new role in the Athletics and Recreation department on September 23. She will be assisting with the management and administration of the intramural sports programs and athletics sports camps.
"I'm thrilled to have Chelsea join our team. Her passion for sports and recreation as well as her experience as a Division I student-athlete will give her a solid foundation to build from," said Jada Gullstrand, Director of Programing and Membership Services. "Chelsea is highly motivated and has the skill set to keep moving Michigan Tech's Sports Camps forward, both as a community resource and an awesome pre-college experience."
"Chelsea will be a great fit for the Intramural program," said Craig Pellizzaro, Director of Intramurals and Physical Education. "Her personality and passion for sports will be a great asset as she interacts with students each day."
Jacques attended Colgate University, graduating in May 2019 with a Bachelor's degree in Geology. While at Colgate, she was a four-year member of the Red Raiders hockey team. As a defender, Jacques competed in the 2018 NCAA Division I National Championship as a junior and was a member of the winningest class in Colgate women's hockey history. In addition, Jacques was an ACHA All-American Scholar and a four-year member of the ECAC All-Academic Team.
Jacques was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula, attending Calumet High School where she ran track and cross country while also playing girls hockey in the area for the Keweenaw Storm.
"I'm very excited to start as the new Intramural Sports and Sports Camp Coordinator at Michigan Tech," Jacques said. "As a former student-athlete, I understand the importance of community and the strong impact collegiate student-athletes can have on younger generations. I value passion and commitment and will carry these qualities with me in everything I do."
