Wes Frahm is in his 11th year as the director of media relations at Michigan Tech since taking over for Michigan Tech Sports Hall of Famer Dave Fischer in 2004. Frahm started his tenure at Tech as the assistant director in 2001.
Frahm oversees all communications and media relations efforts for Tech’s 14 intercollegiate sports. He serves as the primary contact for football, men's and women's basketball, volleyball soccer, tennis, cross country, Nordic skiing and track & field. Frahm is a veteran radio broadcaster, having called play-by-play for Michigan Tech basketball and football for 10 years. He is the spokesman for Tech athletics at all official functions. He also chairs the Michigan Tech Sports Hall of Fame Committee and the Student Affairs and Advancement Professional Development Publicity Committee.
The Elkhart, Ind., native is a member of CoSIDA and has won numerous publication awards from the organization. Two of his media guides were named best in the nation.
Prior to coming to Tech, Frahm spent the 2000-01 season as the sports information director for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in Greenwood, Ind. The previous year, he served as the sports information director and men’s tennis coach at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C.
Frahm earned a bachelor’s degree in sports information and sports administration from the University of Indianapolis in 1999.
Frahm, an avid fisherman, was born on Aug. 7, 1977. He and his wife, Elka, have three children, Isaiah, Levi, and Naomi. They reside in South Range.
