Tech Football to Host Media and Meet the Huskies Day August 22

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech football program will host Media Day along with a scrimmage and "Meet the Huskies" event on Wednesday August 22nd at Sherman Field. It's part of the countdown to the 2018 season opener which is scheduled for Thursday night August 30th at Truman State beginning at 8 p.m. The Huskies will kick off the home schedule in the newly renovated Sherman Field against Hillsdale Saturday September 8th at 1 p.m.

Media Day will start at 2 p.m. where players along with coaches will be available to media members for interviews. The Huskies will then host a scrimmage in preparation for the Truman State game that is open to the public at 3:45 p.m. At the conclusion of the scrimmage which will last about an hour, fans will have an opportunity to "Meet The Huskies," which includes free posters for the players and coaches to sign. Fans are also encouraged to stick around in the evening as the Tech women's soccer team will also be hosting a scrimmage at Sherman Field.

Football VIP tickets are currently on sale with both a traditional 4-pack and new 2-pack option available for the 2018 season. Each football VIP 4 pack and 2 pack comes with either four or two tickets to every Huskies' home game and access to the VIP Tailgate Party prior to each game. The tailgate party includes free food and beverages, free preferred parking in lot 24 or any other available lot, free game program (first 300) and game program recognition are also part of the packages. VIP 4 Packs cost $400 while the VIP 2 Packs are on sale for $280. Michigan Tech Dining Services will be providing the food and beverages in the VIP Tailgate for the 2018/19 season.

In addition, VIP members can purchase a premium parking spot in the new lot behind Sherman Field for $50.00, which must be purchased at the time the 4 pack or 2 pack is purchased. There are eight remaining parking spots and they will be sold on a first come first serve basis.

The VIP ticket program is in its 15th year and up to $200 may be tax deductible for 4 packs and $100 for 2 packs. The tailgate will open 1 ½ hours before scheduled kickoff and food will be taken down when the game begins.

The Huskies will kick off the 2018 campaign on the road at Truman State Thursday night August 30th beginning at 8 p.m. eastern time. The home opener for Tech is slated for the following week when the team entertains Hillsdale at Sherman Field starting at 1 p.m. The battle with the Chargers will be the first of five home games for the Huskies in 2018.

The other four home games for the Huskies this year will have Davenport (Sept. 15), Saginaw Valley State (Sept. 29), Wayne State (Oct. 13), and Northwood (Nov. 10) coming to Houghton. The annual Homecoming game is scheduled for week five against Saginaw Valley State with Hall of Fame Weekend set for week seven when Wayne State comes to town.

The 2018 GLIAC road schedule will take Michigan Tech to Grand Valley State (Sept. 22), Ferris State (Oct. 6), Ashland University (Oct. 20), and Northern Michigan University (Oct. 27). Eight of the ten opponents awaiting the Huskies had winning percentages near or over .500 a season ago.

The 2018 season will also feature two football alumni reunions. An All-Class reunion is slated for September 7-8 which will be highlighted with multiple events and a ceremony celebrating the new renovations at Sherman Field. The 1988 Alumni Reunion will be Hall of Fame Weekend Oct. 11-13 and feature a number of great events as well. Registration and Information links for both reunions can be accessed below.
