HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech Nordic Ski Team releases its 2019-20 competition schedule today in conjunction with the launch of the 2020 U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships website USNationals.mtu.edu.

"We are thrilled to bring the U.S. Cross Country Championships back to Michigan Tech," head coach Tom Smith said. "This will be our sixth time hosting a National Championship event at Tech and the fifth time hosting the U.S. Cross Country Championships through the tenure of our Michigan Tech Nordic Ski Team.
"We boast one of the greatest race organizing committees including astounding volunteers and Tech staff, all integral to allowing us to host this National Championship event. The Huskies kick off their 2019-20 campaign at the UP Opener in Ishpeming on December 14-15 in a dual-meet against rivals Northern Michigan University.
They bring their second competition weekend home on December 21-22 for the MTU CXC Cup and alumni weekend. This weekend will host over 400 athletes as the test event for the U.S. Cross Country Championships, also serving as Junior National Qualifiers and Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) races. The MTU CXC Cup weekend will once again feature an alumni and friends open 5K classic race, so mark your calendars and come put on a race bib for a fun start to your holiday season!
Following the U.S. Cross Country Championships, the Huskies travel to Mt. Itasca, Minnesota to compete in CCSA NCAA qualifying races on January 18-19. January 26 will feature a one event CCSA NCAA qualifying race at the Birkie Start Trailhead in Cable, Wisconsin. These January CCSA events will also be combined Midwest and Great Lakes Division Junior National Qualifying events, a great collaborative racing opportunity for all.
Tech concludes its regular season campaign at CAVOC in Rhinelander, Wisconsin on February 1-2 with two CCSA NCAA qualifying races.
The NCAA Championship season gets underway on February 15-16 back home on the Tech Trails where the Huskies will host the CCSA Championships. The NCAA Central Regional Skiing Championships will be held on February 22-23 at Al Quaal in Ishpeming.
The 2020 NCAA Championships will be held from March 11-14 at CrossCut Ranch in Bozeman, Montana.
