  • Liz Bloch Earns GLIAC Commissioner's Award

    Liz Bloch from the Michigan Tech track & field received a 2019 Spring GLIAC Commissioner’s Award the league office announced on Monday (June 24). Bloch was a two-time All-American in 2019 and had a 3.87 grade-point average.
  • Tech Spring Athletes Garner GLIAC Academic Honors

    A total of 44 Michigan Tech men's and women's spring sport student-athletes earned recognition from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for academics as the league announced its Spring Academic Excellence Awards and All-Academics Teams this week.
  • Liz Bloch and Emily Byrd Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

    Michigan Tech cross country and track & field student-athletes Liz Bloch and Emily Byrd have been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District District 4 Division II Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country Teams for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom. Bloch and Byrd are two of 16 student-athletes selected to represent District 4, which consists of institutions from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the Great Lakes Valley Conference, and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

    A fantastic track & field season was concluded inside Javelina Stadium at Texas A&M-Kingsville as Liz Bloch, Braden Reichl, Matthew Pahl, and Emily Byrd represented the Black and Gold at the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships with a combined four All-America finishes among them.

    Liz Bloch, Matthew Pahl, Emily Byrd, and Braden Reichl are ready to compete as they represent Michigan Tech at the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Hosted by Texas A&M Kingsville on May 23-25, the four Huskies will look to end the year on a high note as they battle for strong performances and All-America honors with the best runners in Division II.
  • Five Huskies Earn USTFCCCA All-Midwest Region Honors

    The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named the Division II All-Region honorees Tuesday afternoon, and five Michigan Tech student-athletes received the prestigious honor from the Midwest Region. To earn All-Region honors, the student-athlete must rank in the top five in each event from each region. 
  • Four Huskies Qualify for NCAA Outdoor Championships

    Emily Byrd, Matthew Pahl, Liz Bloch, and Braden Reichl have qualified to compete in five combined events at the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on May 23-25 from Kingsville, Texas. It is the most track & field student-athletes to qualify for the National Championships in program history.
  • Four School Records Fall As Michigan Tech Runs at Dr. Keeler Invitational

    Riley Roquet, Emily Byrd, Clayton Sayen, and Liz Bloch all set school records or improved their standing on the NCAA provisional qualifying list as the Michigan Tech track & field team wrapped up their regular season at the Dr. Keeler Invitational, hosted by North Central University. It was the last chance for Michigan Tech track & field athletes to qualify for the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Texas A&M - Kingsville.

  • Bloch, Pahl, Reichl Take Home Gold at GLIAC Championships

    Michigan Tech track & field runners Liz Bloch, Matthew Pahl, and Braden Reichl all took home winners medals in their respective events at the 2019 GLIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships from Grand Valley State. The MTU men’s and women’s teams finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the team scores over the three-day conference championship competition from the GVSU Track & Field Complex.

    For the second time in 2019, Michigan Tech track & field student-athlete Liz Bloch was named the GLIAC Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week for breaking a school record at this past weekend’s Hillsdale “GINA” Relays.

    Michigan Tech distance runner Liz Bloch set a new school record with her run in the 800m as the track & field team competed well at the three-day 2019 Hillsdale “GINA” Relays. The Huskies men's team finished the three-day meet with 30.5 points, while the women's team secured 13 team points from Ken Herrick Track.

    The Michigan Tech track & field team continued the beginning of its 2019 season at the MSU Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Michigan. Highlights from Ralph Young Field for the Huskies included position wins by the Michigan Tech ‘A’ 4x400m relay team and Samantha Kurkowski finishing second in the 3000m Steeplechase, in addition to 20 personal best marks being set.

    The Michigan Tech men’s and women’s track & field teams put on solid performances Saturday afternoon (Mar. 30) at the St. Norbert’s Quad Meet in Wisconsin. The Michigan Tech men’s side finished first with 222 team points, while the 142 team points scored by the MTU women saw them finish third.
