LEXINGTON, Kent. – With a three-set win over the top-ranked team in the country as the crown jewel of a three-win weekend, Michigan Tech volleyball has received votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Coaches Poll.
Following sweeping wins over Bemidji State, top-ranked Minnesota Duluth, and Minnesota Crookston, and a five-set defeat to St. Cloud State, Michigan Tech (6-2) received seven votes in this week's poll. Tech is level on votes received with Cal Poly Pomona and Wingate. Tech joins Ferris State (5-3) at No. 13, Northern Michigan (8-0) at No. 24, and Ashland (7-1) receiving votes as the only teams from the GLIAC to make an appearance in the weekly national rankings.
Michigan Tech begins GLIAC play with three consecutive road games before their home opener on September 14 against Northwood. The Huskies travel down-state to take on Saginaw Valley State on Friday (Sept. 7) before heading back north to face Lake Superior State on Saturday (Sept. 8).
