Mariah Sherman Named GLIAC North Division Player of the Week

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech senior Mariah Sherman has been named the GLIAC North Division Player of the Week after an outstanding performance against Northern Michigan.

A right-side hitter from Midland, Michigan, Sherman posted 22 kills (5.50/set) and a .450 hitting percentage as the Huskies defeated Northern Michigan 3-1 inside the SDC Gym. Sherman only committed four errors on the night and added two digs, two block assists, and one assist in the win. Sherman earned this distinction on senior night in a win over a bitter rival, the team's fourth straight win over the Wildcats, in front of a record-crowd of 957 fans.

Sherman becomes the fourth Husky to receive GLIAC North Division Player of the Week honor this season, joining Olivia Ghormley, Laura DeMarchi, and Emilia Widen. This marks the first time Sherman has won the award in her time at Michigan Tech. This also marks the sixth time a Michigan Tech player has received Player of the Week honors, the most in one season in program history.

Hailey Richardson of Wayne State received South Division Player of the Week honors, recording 34 kills, 19 digs, and three blocks in her team's wins over Purdue Northwest and Parkside. It's the fourth time she's won Player of the Week honors this season.

Sherman and the Huskies close out their regular season this week as they take on Ferris State on Friday (Nov. 2) and Northwood on Saturday (Nov. 3).
